The Best Yoga for Your Zodiac Sign

Yoga is truly for everyone. Not only the flexible and the fit. Yoga is like ice cream; you just need to find the flavor that you like.

Each of the zodiacal signs has certain proclivities, tendencies and preferences. When considering which type of yoga to choose for them, I am thinking of their element (fire, earth, air or water) and also what they need to help them to find balance, which is what yoga is all about.

Aries: Yoga for Athletes. This could be any type of power yoga that is more of an athletic, sweaty workout that focuses on strength and stamina with some stretching added in. Hot yoga might be “too” hot for them; they already tend towards being hot-natured. They can get bored easily, so something that switches it up each time or makes it more fun is best.

Taurus: Restorative yoga will be their favorite because it is very grounding and slow but they could use the spice of a warmer more movement-oriented class like power or vinyasa flow. They might appreciate the devotional practice of Jivamukti Yoga, which includes chanting and strongly features music as part of the practice.

Gemini: Yin yoga would be ideal to help them to ground their busy mind, but they might struggle with the long holds when their mind begins to roam. Choosing a balancing practice like Fire & Ice Yoga can help them with a balance of strengthening vinyasa flow and then calming yin poses with breathwork.

Cancer: Restorative Yoga. Wrapping up in a bunch of blankets and bolsters sounds like heaven to the Cancer personality; plenty of personal space in class is essential in order for them to feel safe and help to ease their nervous tendencies.

Leo: Corepower Yoga. They love the name brand, the accessibility and the social nature of this type of environment. Keeping themselves feeling healthy and looking great will inspire them to take yoga classes that are workouts – yoga with weights, core-focused yoga and yoga booty burns.

Virgo: Ashtanga Yoga, because of the precision and ability to build their skills. They appreciate the nature of the practice in that it repeats the same sequences and they can see their marked improvement.

Libra: Partner Yoga. Libra loves the social aspect of partner yoga and it is a great way to help them to work on their communication skills. Being honest with your partner and creating a balanced relationship is part of what they are trying to learn in this lifetime.

Scorpio: Standup Paddleboard Yoga. Because what hones you into the zone more than trying to balance on a board in water? And that rhythmic savasana whilst floating on water? It is freaking magical and helps to cool their intensity.

Sagittarius: Aerial Yoga. Whatever is new and next is tantalizing to the Sagittarius and the idea of flying through their yoga class will appeal. The other favorite would be outdoor yoga – whether on a mat in a field or on the beach.

Capricorn: Iyengar yoga might appeal to them so they can geek out on the alignment principals and “rules.” It is also a practice that delivers measurable results.

Aquarius: Whatever classes are advertised at on flyers at the local health food store. Because community. Because of authenticity. You will find them in the back of the room doing their own thing on the mat.

Pisces: Bhakti Yoga is the yoga of devotion and reverence. It can be practiced on or off the mat. The idea of self-less service appeals to the Pisces nature and adding a devotional quality to the practice brings a deeper meaning and spiritual quality. Jivamukti would also be good for them because of its devotional nature. Be sure to add in some poses for their tender feet.
