Another quirky question posed to me recently for an article for Best Life Online. Which cocktail would be best for each Zodiac sign? Here are my suggestions — what do you think?

Aries – Bourbon, neat. With a close runner-up of a Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer.

Aries is not here to play. They do not need frills or fancy. The Bourbon is for after a long day of hiking. The beer for their white-water rafting trip or afternoon run.

 

Taurus – May wine. This lovely classic German drink of Spring is very simple and delicious. A Riesling or other fresh green white wine with a sprig of the herb Sweet Woodruff and finished with a strawberry. Perfectly earthy and the ingredients only present during Taurus season.

 

Gemini – French 75. This classic cocktail comes with a pedigree and some historical context which will delight the cerebral Gemini. It seems light, sweet and social, but has an edge, just like them. A combination of gin, champagne, fresh lemon juice and sugar, served in a champagne flute brings together those opposite ingredients to create something really special.

 

Cancer – Pina Colada. Fresh pineapple and Rum are both super Summer-y; add in the milky cream of coconut and this is the perfect drink for the Crab.

Water signs are very sensitive to substances of all kinds, so keeping it light is a good idea for our sensitive Cancer. Ruled by the milky-Moon, this drink tends to be consistent, and you can get it everywhere. Comforting for the Cancer personality.

 

Leo – Gold Rush. A very modern cocktail that consists of Bourbon, honey syrup and fresh lemon juice. It’s classy, eye-catching and yet simple and straightforward.

Leo loves something that is luxurious and unique.

 

Virgo – Sazerac. This timeless cocktail requires very specific ingredients: Rye Whiskey; a sugar cube, Peychaud’s Bitters, and anise liqueur.

Exacting, like our Virgo personality; and with bitters, which makes it a bit of a medicinal beverage. First created in New Orleans it’s very Virgo to be classic with a little bit of kink, just like the City.

 

Libra – Aperol Spritz. This classic Italian cocktail is comprised of half Aperol and half Prosecco, with a nice wedge of orange, over ice.

Balanced, classic and classy, just like our very social Libra. And not too alcoholic, so they can flit and flirt.

 

Scorpio – Scotch. The good stuff. Something straightforward, with lots of peaty, smoky goodness.

Scorpio rules the underworld, so the peat accumulation of decayed matter that is burned to dry it really vibes with this intense and sometimes brooding sign.

 

Sagittarius – Margarita. With some tequila shots on the side.

This sign likes to have a good time, and this sweety but salty combination is perfect. For sure the partiers of the Zodiac, Sagittarius likes to throw down.

 

Capricorn – Gin Martini. Up, with a twist or an olive. A classic combination for a classic sign.

This sign rules authority figures, bosses and powerful people.

 

Aquarius – Midori Sour. A simple preparation with Midori liqueur, a melon-flavored liqueur known for its bright green color. Add in fresh squeezed lime juice or sweet and sour mix, seltzer and a maraschino cherry garnish.

A quirky green drink for our slightly alien Aquarian friends.

 

Pisces – Paloma. There are lots of variations of this tequila, grapefruit and lime juice cocktail with a salted rim for our fish friends.

For our sensitive Pisces you can make this more or less alcoholic by adding a splash of seltzer. A nice balance of sweet and salty, just like the two sides of our changeable Pisces friends.
