Recommended Read: Sastun

Once again I find myself recommending a book that I tell students about so often that I forgot to recommend it via the blog. Sastun by Rosita Arvigo (with Nadine Epstein); My Apprenticeship with a Maya Healer.

I found this book to be life-changing, inspirational and incredible. It is the true story of a female chiropractor who makes her way to Belize to study with the last living Mayan healer, Don Elijah Panti.

You will smile and laugh at the cultural exchanges and deep humanity of it all. You will cry when he mourns his wife’s passing and the cruelty of locals who reject his old ways and yet appear at his doorstep when crisis comes.

Truly a story for the ages that will inspire you learn more, I could not recommend this book more highly. Order it RIGHT NOW.

Honestly, I thought I had posted about this before. I would put it in my top five books of my lifetime. Really.

Enjoy,

Shanti (peace),

Jill
