The Six Least Affectionate Signs of the Zodiac

As is often the case when we are consulted as astrologers to give quotes for a news article, it can often be about negative traits.

But not being particularly affectionate isn’t negative; it is just how some people are made! Knowing this helps a lot when trying to love these folks. This my list — what do you think?

NOTE: Defining “affectionate” is important. Dictionary definition -- “Readily feeling or showing fondness or tenderness.” Note that any of this can be moderated by having a touchy-feely Moon sign or Venus.

First on this list — Aquarians. I would imagine everyone would say Aquarians! They are so often very detached and uncomfortable with demonstrations of affection. Or, if they do want physical affection, it must be on their terms. They often do not notice others distress or discomfort and have to work at understanding emotional responses.

Second, I would say Capricorns. Even though they can be very tender, they also can be quite formal. They can demonstrate love and affection in ways that might not feel particularly emotional or sweet. More practical than affectionate.

Third, I would say Pisces. Some might say that is a strange choice, but I have found that the high sensitivity level of the Piscean person tends to create in the personality a bit of armor and standoffishness so as to protect themselves. The “castle and mote” they create around themselves can be quite deep and hard to scale. Even if they are concerned about you, they might be quite reserved unless they trust you.

Fourth, Scorpio. This personality can be quite calculating and tough. The ways they demonstrate love and caring may not seem particularly sensitive, even though they are quite intuitive and understand things at a depth that might surprise you.

Fifth, Gemini. It really depends on which twin you are dealing with; you can experience this personality as being very changeable. This sign is so mental that sometimes emotions are things that they try on and discard in a preference for thoughts and thinking. They can wrap beautiful words around things, but often can be more focused on their own version of reality. It can make those lovely seem hollow if they are not backed up with actions that demonstrate caring and kindness.

Sixth, Virgo. The Virgo personality is so analytical that it also can get wrapped up in the mentality of a thing and not connect to their (or your) emotions. While they are busy spreadsheeting the situation or trying to fix it or make it better, they can lose track of conveying an emotional understanding or affectionate response. They are more focused on offering solutions to the problem.
